Can I be Hypnotised?
We all experience the hypnotic state daily through the process of going to sleep and waking up or being absorbed in some activity that focuses the mind, so it is a reality that happens anyway, so the answer is that virtually anyone can be Hypnotised depending on their willingness to change whatever it is they want to change or simply their desire to experience hypnosis . Hypnotherapy is not a magic cure so will not work on people who are not committed in the first place. Additionally people who want to break a habit with Hypnotherapy who still think they cannot be hypnotised are often surprised, there are many methods of inducing hypnosis to suit different types of individuals.
Stage Hypnosis
Unfortunately stage hypnosis has given Hypnotherapy a bad name. It is important to realise that stage hypnosis is all about expectation, the people who go to these shows are often willing participants who have no objection to being made a fool of, rather like going to a concert, you know you are going to see a band that you like so you look forward to it with excited anticipation, this is like the participants in stage hypnosis, there expectation is largely responsible for what is to follow. Also note the difference between Stage Hypnosis and Clinical Hypnotherapy, Stage Hypnosis is about finding people who are willing to act the fool while Clinical Hypnotherapy facilitates a person to relax while tapping into the persons inner potential to bring about change.
