Neuro-linguistic Programming
Often you will see the letters NLP within the title of a Hypnotherapist or other practitioner, it is also a stand alone therapy which people study to gain higher qualifications, I will give a very brief explanation as it is a vast subject within itself.
NLP uses techniques to facilitate change using guided imagery and other excersises involving Visual, Hearing and Feeling emotions. It is used in many ways to help improve communication, understanding of others and facilitating change in simple and profound ways.
NLP is based on our own ability to communicate, see hear and feel the world in our own unique way. It is often used within Counselling and Hypnotherapy. It involves using techniques to improve communication with yourself and others, not in a way to change the person radically but in a way to communicate more effectively building good raport either in normal day to day life, in the work place or within the therapy room.
Everyone has their own unique map of seeing the world, NLP helps to attempt to understand the internal map of a person with whom you are communicating. Of course none of this is set in stone as people are individual flexible beings with their own unique personalities and traits, but NLP can go a long way to affect good communication helping to build rapport and even clinch deals within corporate business. Additionally we often use NLP in life without knowing that it comes under the heading of NLP, it is a basically common sense way of using skills that we all have, NLP is just this but more refined to really have an effect in the corporate, teaching and therapy environment.
